For their SS20 collection, Shopyte focused on nature and reforestation by repairing what was destroyed rather than ruining what’s left in the industry. SS20 highlights the shiny jungle of concrete, the glorious possibilities and excessive consumption. The garments are all crafted from the finest quality natural fabrics to create pieces that are bold and breezy. The profound sense of minimalism is evident as with previous collections. The catwalk show featured models wearing masks and strutting down the runway, explaining the concept of everyone being equal, While the clothes further empathize preservation in these fast fashion times.
Designer Dovilė Šopyté and Shopyte as a brand believe in sustainability and that less is more. Dovilė disregards the overwhelming desire in contemporary culture to follow the latest trends and instead uses Shopyte to create ethical and sustainable garments. Standing upon the foundation of quality materials and versatility, their designs can be styled endlessly with no limit on time or occasion, allowing you to mix and match each garment in a variety of different ways. These timeless pieces not only support ethical fashion, but also build a community for the conscious consumers purchasing them.
I had the pleasure of chit chatting with the designer and her husband/business partner, after their show at the Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square. Ifeoma Odogwu
