We’ve already established that drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your health and fitness. But it’s also a fact that a lot of people struggle with drinking water. To be honest,  most of us probably don’t drink as much water as we should.

There are a lot of common excuses:
• Water doesn’t taste like anything
• I don’t want to constantly go to the bathroom
• I always forget
• It’s easier to just drink juice and fizzy drinks

All these excuses might have some merit to them, but at the end o the day, there is no excuse good enough for neglecting your health. Plus, all these excuses can be combated and you can develop healthy water-drinking habits.

• Water doesn’t taste like anything: It’s water. It typically isn’t supposed to. However, it is understandable that water might not be the most fun thing to do. One of the best ways to get around this through flavoured water. Flavored water tastes like juice and has almost no calories.  Now there’s no excuse for not drinking your H2O.

• I don’t want to constantly go to the bathroom: Going to the bathroom several times a day to pee is a sign of good health. This isn’t an excuse. Drink that water.

• I always forget: this can be easily worked around. Keep a bottle of water at your bedside and drink as soon as you get up. You can even keep a carton under your bed. Keep water in places you frequent and can easily see, such as your desk at work, in your car and at your bedside. You can even keep a phone reminder or aim to drink a certain number of bottles or glasses a day.

• Its easier to drink juice or fizzy drinks: it’s generally easier to be unhealthy. Start small and replace one bottle of juice or fizzy drink with water each week. Work up from there a day and eventually cut down sugar-laden drinks to once or twice a week.

Developing water-drinking as a habit isn’t easy but with a few steps,  it can be done. So get out there and drink that water. Trust us, your body will thank you.
