Designer Emmanuel Okoro is the Creative Director of Emmy Kasbit, one of Nigeria’s most promising menswear line.
Kicking off his brand in 2013, his pieces have been seen on several runways like South African Menswear Fashion Week in 2016, 2017, and 2018., He was also featured at number 8th on the BlackNBold Young Designers list of 2016.
Having emerged as the winner of the Lagos Fashion & Design Week Fashion Focus 2017, the Emmy Kasbit brand won a 5 Million Naira cash grant from Fashion Focus Fund powered by Fets Wallet, and business mentoring from Ijeoma Ogbechie, an expert in finance, sales, and, technology, who is currently a vice president at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and founder of Avivere, a fashion e-commerce startup.
Taking inspiration from his family and his Nigerian heritage—particularly his father and the looks he wore in the 70s in Nigeria—Emmanuel’s aesthetic is largely guided by his roots.
One of the most prominent moments in his career was clothing the British Prime Minister, Theresa May in one of his pieces called the “Akwete Jacket” during her last visit to Nigeria.
His collection at the Lagos Fashion Week 2018 also left fashion lovers reeling as the models strutted across the runway in his pieces.
We love Emmanuel Okoro and the Emmy Kasbit brand as he continues to grow.
