Giving Tuesday refers to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It is a movement to create an international day of giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season. Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season (Black Friday and Cyber Monday).

Giving does not have to be the biggest gesture. It could be from just buying food for the poor or helping a friend with a problem they’ve been talking about for a while.

There are also charities across the globe you can give to if you’re not sure about what you can do or even better, charities in Nigeria. Here’s a link to some of the charities that you could contribute to.

You don’t need to wait till Christmas to give a gift or lend a helping hand !!
