The premiere of ‘Skin’ The documentary produced by Beverly Naya and directed by Daniel Etim Effiong held on 31st of March, 2019 at Film House, Twin Waters Entertainment Center, Lagos. The eagerly anticipated event which was sponsored by NIVEA, commenced with a bevy of celebrities striking poses on the red carpet, mingling and having a glass or two of Moët Et Chandon champagne before the official viewing of the documentary.
The event hosted an array of notable personalities, dignitaries and celebrities including Mo Abudu, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Godwin Harrison (Managing Director of Beiersdorf Nigeria/NIVEA), Ireti Doyle, Tara Dorotoye, Nonny Ugboma (Chief Exec. of the MTN Foundation), Hilda Dokubo, Elizabeth Oputa (Moët Et Chandon), Ayoola Ayolola, Taiwo Ajayi Lycett, Kaylah Oniwo, Vimbai Mutinhiri, Deyemi Okanlawon, Carol King, Timini Egbuson, Segun Biola Williams and many others who came for the grand premiere of the Beverly Naya Produced documentary.

The opulence of the premiere was provided by NIVEA and the official drink sponsor was Moët Et Chandon. Classy! Both brands ensured that the guests had a splendid time at the event with enough food, champagne and gift bags for everyone in attendance.
Skin is a feature documentary that captures sceneries from the South West and South South part of Nigeria, the movie identifies the meaning of beauty in all shades of black. Beverly Naya goes on a journey to learn about contrasting perceptions of beauty. She speaks to school children, traders, artists, beauty entrepreneurs and sex workers. This narrative is interwoven by poignant personal accounts of individuals who have dealt with the pressure to conform to certain standards of beauty, revealing how colorism continues to shape the face of society in Nigeria.
Beverly concludes her journey with a trip to her hometown exploring her rich cultural heritage with her mother and grandmother. Here we have three generations of beautiful black women who, through sheer hard work and self-love, have built useful businesses laying a solid legacy for her and many like her to build upon.
“This [documentary] is not an anti-bleaching campaign” says Beverly Naya while speaking on the Red Carpet at the premiere, instead the documentary aims to inspire self love and self-acceptance.
