Starting a business on your own can be energy consuming. As if that’s not enough, we can have family and friends who are meant to be the most supportive looking for handouts and to them, that’s a way of supporting your business.

Everyone can scream at the top of their lungs all day and all night about how much they love you and how they are always there for you and how they are routing for you, but when you actually need them-they’re no where to be found. Especially when it comes to business.

No matter what business venture you are getting into, whether it’s being a makeup artist, taking on a music career, owing a saloon etc., the support is supposed to be genuine. Your family and friends should invest in you but instead we find people in our lives more so asking for handouts but strangers are more willing to invest.

Some people actually see your vision and want to see you truly excel, while others want to see you fall on your face or just use you while they can. That is not real support.

Real support comes from actually buying your friend’s products because you see the potential in their vision, not because you feel obligated to. If you are going to support, then support. Stop asking for discounts, freebies, or shortcuts. The same way you want to be paid for your services, trust and believe your friend wants their coins too. The same way you would walk into shoprite and buy things, why can’t you do the same for your family or friends starting off their own business?

The problem today is that many feel like they are obligated to reap off your success. Your success is just that and you shouldn’t feel that you owe that to anybody.

Be great people and flourish. Let’s all be great and support each other. Life’s too short.
