Mrs. Aishah Ahmad was born on the 26th of October, 1976. A native of Niger State, she graduated from the University of Abuja with a degree in Accounting, after which she bagged an M.Sc in Finance and Management from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK, as well as an MBA with a specialisation in Finance from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She is a member of both the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) associations – both globally recognized programs for investment analysts and portfolio managers.
Her professional experience spans 20 years and includes global financial institutions such as Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC -a member of Standard Bank Group, where she was responsible for Standard Bank’s private wealth business in West Africa, Bank of New York Mellon (UK), Synesix Financial Limited (UK), Zenith Bank Plc as Head, Retail Banking Unit, and NAL Bank Plc as Head, Private Banking. She also worked with First Interstate Bank Plc as Executive Assistant, Treasury Group, Manstructs Group Nigeria Limited as Group Accountant and Z. O. Ososanya & Co. Mrs. Ahmad is Head Consumer Banking at Diamond Bank PLC, where she was responsible for strategic retail products and customer segments including consumer banking, private wealth management, direct sales agent network with a customer base of over 5 million.
She is passionate about global investing and promoting diversity & women’s (financial) inclusion; she regularly speaks on these topics and advises on the board of several companies. She is currently the Chairperson of the Executive Council of Women in Management, Business & Public Service, WIMBIZ (www.wimbiz.org); a women-focused not-for-profit organization in sub-Saharan Africa. She is also a member of the steering committee on Cherie Blair Foundation’s, Technology for Growth project; a groundbreaking learning intervention programme for female entrepreneurs in Nigeria, was an alternate director at Friesland Campina WAMCO (2010 – 2014), a global company in the dairy industry, and she is also a board member of the SOS Children’s hospital.
She is well respected for her experience in the private banking space having managed many High Net-worth Individuals (HNI’s) throughout her career. The Presidency on Thursday announced the nomination of Aisha Ahmad, to take over as Deputy Governor Central Bank of Nigeria in charge of Economic Policy from Sarah Alade who retired in March.
